Privacy Policy

Campella (“Campella,” “we,” “us”) is a planning tool for parents and guardians to discover kids' summer camps, plan each child's summer, and coordinate with people they trust. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Campella is operated by Campella LLC.

Who Campella is for

Campella is intended for adults (18+), parents, and guardians. It is not directed to children, and children do not create or use accounts. Information about a child is entered and controlled by the parent or guardian who owns the account — we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Campella is not directed to children under the age of 13. We collect information relating to children only from their parent or legal guardian for the limited purpose of providing planning, scheduling, and related features requested by the parent. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or submit information directly to us. Parents may review, update, export, or delete their child's information at any time through their account or by contacting us.

Information we collect

We collect only the minimum information reasonably necessary to provide the planning features requested by a parent or guardian.

Account information you provide: your name, email address, and optionally a username, phone number, mailing address (line, city, state, ZIP), and a profile photo. We store a securely hashed version of your password — never the password itself.

Children's information you provide: for each camper you add, their first and last name, an optional birth year (we intentionally collect only the year, not a full date of birth), and an optional school name. This is used to plan camps and, in aggregate, to show age- and school-based popularity to other parents — never to identify a specific child.

Activity: camps you save, follow, schedule, mark as booked, or waitlist; the camp seasons you create; reviews and questions you post; and friend connections you make.

Deals you claim:when you claim a camp's Campella Insider deal, we record that you claimed it (which deal, and when) so we can reveal your code or claim reference, enforce the limit on how many Insider deals a member can claim in a period, and give the camp an aggregate count of how many members claimed. The camp does not receive your identity from us — only a count.

Payments: if you buy the Campella Insider, a pay-as-you-go AI plan or AI-assisted registration, a Camp Pro or Camp Starter subscription, or a Featured boost, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details. We do not store card numbers — we keep only a customer reference and your plan/subscription/credit status.

Google Calendar (optional): if you choose to connect Google Calendar, we store the access tokens needed to add your scheduled camps to your calendar. You can disconnect at any time, which removes the events we created and our access.

Campella's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google Calendar access only to add and manage the camp events you schedule, on your own calendar; we do not read your other calendar data, transfer it to third parties, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it (except as needed for security, to comply with law, or with your consent).

Technical: a sign-in session cookie, and standard server logs (e.g. IP address, timestamps) used for security and reliability.

How we use information

• Provide the service — search, planning, scheduling, accounts.
• Send transactional emails you've opted into (camp reminders, registration nudges, friend requests, open-spot alerts, Q&A replies). You control these in Account → Notifications.
• Power optional features you choose to use (Google Calendar sync; social signals like “friends booked here,” which you can turn off in Privacy settings; and Camp Circles, described below).
• Power optional AI features you choose to use — for example the AI planner builds and adjusts a plan from the camper details and preferences you provide. Your AI planner conversations (the messages you send and the assistant's replies) are stored with that season so you can pick them up later. Inputs are processed to generate a result and are not used to train AI models. Information relating to children that is processed through AI providers is used solely to generate the requested output and is not retained for advertising, profiling, or model training. Some AI features are paid; see our Terms.
• Show camp owners aggregate, de-identifiedaudience insights (e.g. age mix, ZIP/school cohorts at a minimum group size, and how many members claimed a deal). Owners never see individual parents' names or contact details.
• Process payments, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure.

Children's information

Because Campella is for parents and a child's information is provided by their own parent or guardian, we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. We practice data minimization for children's data — for example, storing only a birth year rather than a full date of birth. We do not sell children's information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. A parent can review, correct, export, or delete a child's information at any time from their account, or by contacting us. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

By creating an account and providing information regarding a child, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of that information as described in this Privacy Policy.

We do not use children's information for behavioral profiling, automated decision-making, targeted advertising, or marketing purposes.

Sharing with other parents (Camp Circles & friends)

Campella includes optional features that let you plan alongside people you choose. These share information with other parents only when you opt in, and only the specific information described below:

• Camp Circles:you share on a per-camp basis. When you share a specific scheduled camp into a circle (or use “share my whole schedule”), the other parents in that circle can see, for that camp, the child's first name, the camp, and its week, so the group can coordinate. Camps you don't share are never shown to other members. You can unshare any camp at any time, and can leave a circle — which stops sharing going forward. Camp suggestions and responses you post in a circle are visible to its members. Only adult members of a Camp Circle may view information shared within that Camp Circle. Adopting a suggestion adds it only to your own schedule; no one can book or change your schedule for you.
• Friends & social signals:if you connect with friends, confirmed friends may see camps your children are scheduled at (e.g. “friends booked here”). You can turn this off in Privacy settings.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run Campella, under contracts limiting their use of it:

• Supabase — database and photo storage
• Stripe — payment processing
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Google — calendar sync (only if you connect it)
• Mapbox — maps and address/ZIP geocoding
• Anthropic — AI features (e.g. listing autofill when adding a camp, schedule suggestions, review summaries, and the AI auto-book registration assistant); inputs are processed to generate a result and are not used to train their models
• Browserbase— the secure cloud browser used by our optional AI auto-book (assisted registration) feature to open a camp's own website and enter your information on your behalf (only when you use that feature)
• Our hosting provider, to operate the site

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Assisted registration (AI auto-book)

If you use our optional AI auto-book feature (assisted registration — distinct from the “autofill” tool that drafts a camp's listing details when you add a camp), we help you complete a camp's own registration form. The information you provide for that form — some prefilled from your account (such as your and your child's name, your contact details, and address) and some you enter for that session (such as a date of birth, emergency contact, or any allergy or medical notes) — is transmitted through a secure third-party cloud browser (Browserbase) to the camp's website so it can be entered into their form. We use Anthropic to help navigate and fill the form.

This information is used only for that registration session and is not stored by Campella. We never enter your passwords or payment details, and you complete any sign-in, payment, and final submission yourself. In production we do not record these sessions. If you enter allergy or medical information, it is processed only to fill that form and is not retained. The only things we keep from a session are: a bookmark of where you left off (which step and page, so you can resume), which is deleted when you delete your account; and short, de-identifiednotes about how the automation performed, with personal details removed, which we retain to improve the feature. Those notes never include your child's information, login, or payment.

Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information and your children's information, including campers, schedules, and the calendar events we created (some records may persist briefly in backups or where retention is required by law). We do not retain children's information longer than needed for the purpose it was provided. Following account deletion, children's personal information will be deleted within a reasonable period, except where temporary retention is necessary for backup restoration or required by applicable law.

Your rights and choices

• Access & export — download your data as JSON from Account.
• Correct — edit your profile and campers anytime.
• Delete — delete your account (and all associated data) from Account.
• Communication preferences — manage emails in Account → Notifications.

Depending on where you live (for example, under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to appeal a decision. Security

We protect data in transit with encryption (HTTPS), store passwords only as salted hashes, encrypt sensitive credentials (such as calendar access tokens) at rest, and restrict access to personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your and your children's information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
